baresca is about the excitement of sharing great food & drink with good friends! Back in 2002, before taking over the reins of the family business, we headed to Barcelona for a last minute weekend break before the real work started! It was the end of the summer and the weather was unusually miserable we took refuge in the many bars, eateries & food markets of Barcelona’s old town.We loved the Barcelona eating out scene…the way food was prepared with minimal fuss where the quality and freshness spoke for itself.

We loved the social, family way in which the Catalonians ate and shared their food. We absorbed the atmosphere and after a couple of beers declared that we needed to take this way of life back home!A few years later, we opened our first tapas bar escabeche, in West Bridgford. & in 2015 launched Baresca into the city- a tapas bar, market café and cellar originally inspired by that trip 13 years previous.
