Group History

Plumtree Railway Station was one of the victims of Dr Beeching's purge in the Sixties and stood empty until 1982 when Tony and Wendy Perkins chased a dream. They were living on the outskirts of London at the time, where Tony was Area Manager for Bass Charrington, but a friend in Nottingham overheard a chance conversation about British Rail's intention to sell the land around Plumtree Station.
Despite its derelict state, the Perkins' believed it would make an ideal venue for Perkins Bistro, and for the past 28 years it has been renowned as one of Nottinghamshire's leading restaurants.
Jonathan and David Perkins took over the business in 2002 and the brothers have developed Perkins Family in that time, successfully creating The Carriage Hall from a derelict railway goods shed at the rear of the restaurant, and launching Perkins Evolution to make the restaurant a noon-midnight operation that give clients a truly outstanding experience.
