Business knowledge: Together with learning technical cooking skills and how to behave at work, we will provide training on stock management. This will be conducted over the period of a month toward the end of the apprenticeship where the apprentice will be trained on ordering, costing and menu pricing. On the basis of the result and what has been learnt, the apprentice will be encouraged to make ordering and menu suggestions.
Farm to fork: Over the period of the apprenticeship each apprentice will be engaged on three external 'off site' activities to enhance their knowledge of where food comes from. A trip to the farm, local butcher's tour and a fish market trip will help set learning objectives relating to the benefits of eating fresh as opposed to processed food.
Cook and Eat sessions: Each apprentice will also play an active role in the Perkins Family Academy 'Cook and Eat' sessions described under objectives 1 and 2. These sessions will be conducted throughout the year at local schools and community centres to promote the benefits of healthy eating with fresh local produce, teach cooking skills and food budgeting.
A graduation certificate from the Perkins Family Academy: We will provide a graduation certificate to each successful apprentice demonstrating our commitment and showing future employers the added value learning journey each apprentice has embarked upon.
